Our story begins on the mid-north coast of New South Wales, Australia, with the people who choose to live and work locally. Family run enterprises growing and creating wonderful, sustainable products. They are the makers and Local Taste Hampers are a way for you to sample some of their products. Every hamper we promote contains products form at least six local producers.
Each and every delicacy and hand made product we choose for our Local Taste Hampers is carefully and lovingly created by growers and artisans on the Mid North Coast.
When you purchase a hamper from us to say “Thank you”, “Congratulations”, “I love you” or “I am thinking of you” – not only are you gifting the gift of thoughtfulness, but you are gifting the gift of supporting a dream and you are giving back to your community.
Our mission goes beyond just creating beautifully crafted “hampers”. We want to provide a platform for local growers and producers to connect with consumers who would love to buy local, quality products that cannot be found in supermarkets and the bigger stores.
Packed inside every gift hamper is the biggest gift of all
– a connection to, and strengthening of, the local community.
Ana Martin’s vision for Local Taste Hampers was simple: to combine her passion for quality food and sustainable artisan products, with her unprecedented strive to promote and support the local community which she lives in and loves: the mid-north coast of New South Wales
Originally raised in the northern region of Spain, Ana grew up with a tasteful appreciation of her culture’s gastronomy and her mother’s delectable Sunday lunches. Although her life first took her on a corporate journey, she discovered her true passion for hospitality shortly after arriving in Australia in 1994. Since then she has continued to hone her taste for quality food by spending most of her working time in food-based ventures and co-owning two cafes and a delicatessen.
Today, as a food producer herself (Co-Bee-liever of Amber Drop Honey), Ana spends most of her weekends at the local markets selling raw honey. In between stall set ups and down-times, she is often seen talking shop with other producers. There is nothing that brings her more joy than having the opportunity to meet, connect and really get to know the stories behind other local producers and growers. She has truly found her ground connecting with makers, and yearns to celebrate this human element of food and other boutique products. From there (following an inspiring conversation with a good friend!) her passion had led her to create Local Taste Hampers.
As a zealous advocate for supporting small businesses and giving back to our community, Ana hopes to inspire those around her to shop consciously, locally, with the wholehearted intention to simply “give”.
